Dubbing
is an extension of voiceover. The difference here is that attention
must be paid to fitting the dubbed vocal audio into specific time
frames of the visual content. The ultimate goal is the perfect lip-synchronization,
which seamlessly marries the dubbed spoken words to the movement
of the actors lips on screen. For foreign language dubbing
and lip-synch, a whole host of considerations come into play. The
translation and adaptation must be meticulously prepared to adhere
to the time constraints imposed by the spoken words in the original
version. Yet, they must also make sense. The actors then have the
daunting task of synching the localized script to the action on
screen. The sound editor must eventually fit the recorded pieces
precisely into the final mix, taking into consideration elements
of placement and volume.
The dubbing process is very detailed and definitely not for the
faint of heart. In the hands of the inexperienced, the results can
be catastrophic (I am sure we have all seen a bad "Godzilla"
movie at some point). Voicegroup has dubbed over 75 major movies
into various foreign languages. While truly professional and experienced
lip-synch actors are hard to find, Voicegroup has made it a practice
to find them. And we have some of the best the entertainment industry
has to offer. |
